What to Wear to A Red Carpet Event~

I find myself having to spread the word about attire for a "Red Carpet Event". Since I have started planning and sending out invites to our July 1st Launch Party so many people have asked me this question "What is a Launch Party?" and "What Should I Wear?"  I find myself a little confused because I think that the question is answered in the description of the event ~Red Carpet. Does anyone watch the Oscars, Grammy's or the Emmy Awards? Are we so sheltered as a society here in Indiana that we don't pay attention? My fear is that someone will show up in Carhart overalls and a cutoff tee shirt! A Red Carpet event is a chance to dress up and be a Hollywood Star for an evening!

Wikipedia says Nowadays the red carpet is more well known for its association with gala celebrity events such as the Academy Awards, Met Ball and Baftas. Whilst the awards take place inside, much of the publicity and excitement takes place outside with journalists discussing what designers are being worn by which stars and photographers taking pictures. This is now a spectacular international product placement arena of incredible importance to the fashion industry, with dedicated spectators including Vogue and Elle.

A Red Carpet event is one that most of us will never experience, however in order to bring a little glamour to the Midwest I decided to let the community and the fashion world know that the most fashionable people in Indiana can bring it too!  You don't have to buy a Versace or a Christian Dior gown to attend a Red Carpet event, most gowns can be found in boutiques or dress shops. You can go to the mall and purchase a dress from Macy's that you would wear to a wedding or cocktail party but you run the risk of someone else showing up with the same dress. We also have several local designers that have gowns to rent or who can design a custom gown for the event like Gaby Couture and Catou Couture. These designers however are probably making five or so gowns at the moment and with the event being two weeks away there is a good chance you won't get a custom gown. Bringing up a very good piece of advice ~do not wait until the last minute to find a dress either you will just get stressed and frustrated and pick something that you are just Ok with. This type of event gives you a chance to really show who you are and wear something you might not normally get to. Be practical yet fun and hey wear something that gives people a reason to say "Wow!" Here are a few choices for attire to wear to a Red Carpet Event.
