A Fashion Tribute~

Yesterday August 5th 2010 marked the anniversary of screen siren and blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe's death. Monroe was only 36 when she died, and still to this day there is much speculation surrounding her untimely passing. The actress was famous for her roles in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire and Some Like it Hot which earned her a Golden Globe in 1959. The actress was married to famous baseball legend Joe DiMaggio and and was rumored to have loved two Kennedy's, both John and Robert. She made a splash in the pages of Playboy and became a fashion icon. Just before 5 a.m. on  August 5th, 1962 she was found unconscious by her Psychiatrist Jack Clemmons, who made a phone call to the LAPD in which he told them she was dead.   She was laid to rest on August 8th 1962, in 1992 Hugh Hefner purchased the crypt to the left of hers at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.

Fashion Note ~ The Jean Louis dress that she wore as she sang  "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" to then President John F. Kennedy, sold at auction in 1999 for $1.26 million.
