Something special happened just a few hours ago! Burberry, the luxury fashion brand known for its plaid umbrellas and iconic trench coats surpassed three million fans on Facebook. The British based brand has become the most-widely followed fashion brand on the social networking site!
Joanna Shields, Vice President for Facebook EMEA said "Burberry is no longer just a fashion company - today they are a thriving media enterprise! Burberry's successful not just because it makes great clothes but because it understands the importance of sparking interest in the community and using social media to engage and delight their consumers."
Burberry hit the 1 million fan mark in about a year, they doubled that number in six months and it took just another month to reach 3 million fans! What is the brand doing to have this much success on the web? With online initiatives such as livestreaming fashion shows and "The Art of the Trench", which gives people a chance to submit photos of themselves wearing their favorite trench and sharing it with the world its no wonder the brand gaining ground on the web!
