Born in Toronto, Ontario, Corey Haim rose to fame as a teen idol in such 1980s films as Lucas, The Lost Boys, License to Drive and Dream a Little Dream. One of his breakthrough roles was 1987's The Lost Boys, costarring Corey Feldman the other of the "Two Corey's" and Jason Patric. "I've gotten to work with some great people," Haim has said. "I've been really lucky."
He was linked romantically to Alyssa Milano in the late 1980's and was part of the teen idol scence. Girls loved him and guys wanted to be Haim with his witty quips and his preppy looks.
He worked with Feldman on numerous projects. "The Two Coreys" had their own A&E reality show of the same name from 2007 to 2008. The two however became estranged and Feldman said he was done with Haim until he was able to get sober.
On February 7, 2008, Haim ran a paid ad in the Hollywood magazine Variety, stating "This is not a stunt. I'm back. I'm ready to work. I'm ready to make amends."
Haim was recently helping his mother Judy, a cancer survivor by going with her to treatments and appointments and he had started working again. Haim, who had battled drug addiction for many years, had been working with an addiction specialist and was doing well, his agent says. "He was still on a little medication, but not like the old days. They'd pretty much weaned him off it… He seemed very coherent and normal [on Tuesday]. He did to both his mother and his doctor as well. The doctor just thought he had a cold or bug or flu."
