Midwest Fashion Week ~ Styling Event Mounds Mall

Anderson Indiana was the scene at five p.m. on a rainy Saturday in March, this sleepy midwestern city was anything but sleepy this evening!  The stage was set, models were scurring from the styling to the makeup and hair stations, there were last minute lineup and styling changes but this is what its all about. The Salon Professional Academy in Anderson made the models runway ready and picture perfect. The look most of the makeup artists wanted to give the models was a clean and natural look. Most of the sylists were giving the models soft swept updo's which most hairstylists will say that is their favorite look to create.

Fashion is a business and at that a multi-billion dollar business, and here in the Midwest we are definitely apart of that business! Sears, Maurices and Elder Berman all participated in this years styling event at Mounds Mall! The treads seen on the runway were black and white, short, purple, hot pink and prints.

Models Kailyn and Koren (pictured below) both said that they look up to Rhianna and Beyonce as style Icons. I asked the models what their five must haves for spring are and here is the list- Flip Flops, Tank Tops, jean shorts, gauchos and soft pink nail polish.

I also spoke to fashion stylist Michael Grant who has been styling all over the United States for ten years!  Michael was very excited about the new looks for spring and he told me that every wardrobe needs three essential pieces - a white button down shirt, khakis and of great crisp pair of black pants.

Below I am sad that this picture didn't turn out better but the model is wearing a colbalt blue strapless silk chiffon cocktail dress kinda reminds me of our pick for look of the day a few days ago. Do you see the resembelance?

STAYED TUNED MORE TO COME!
